Microsofts Small Business Server 2008 / 2011 (SBS) has been supporting companies across the globe for many years.. but it’s time to plan your upgrade!

With enhancements in technology, it’s important businesses upgrade their server suite as the technology giant has discontinued the product.

With the software now no longer available to purchase, medium-sized businesses with no more than 25 users and 50 devices are required to shop around for an alternative.

Organisations currently using SBS 2008 / 2011 will have to upgrade as Microsoft will stop its support in early 2020. January 14, to be precise. Therefore, now is the time to begin planning your transition.

Worryingly, those small to medium-sized businesses who are presently using SBS 2008 / 2011 will be vulnerable to security risks and data loss if they do not upgrade.

A majority of business owners are recognising their SBS 2008 / 2011 is aging and that replacing is inevitable.

 

So what are the options?

Windows Server 2016 Essentials is the recommended upgrade from Microsoft – for those who were / are currently operating on SBS 2008 / 2011.

This cloud-connected first server, which is ideal for small to medium-sized businesses, is a promising option to enhance their I.T.

An element of Windows Essentials we recommend is Office 365.

Windows Server 2019 will also be a combination of Windows Sever on premise and Windows Server on Azure (the cloud). This pathway is another area worth considering, but it’s important you are prepared to invest time and cash in planning your I.T. for better performance and maximum security.
